A wall is only as good as its foundation
Poor footings are the source of most serious collapses, and no amount of careful building higher up can correct for problems at the base. A proper foundation provides a stable base for the rest of the wall. The foundation must be suitably wide, solid and firm to resist unequal settling. This in turn helps with the drainage allowing water to drain out of the base of the wall, minimising disruption due to frost. Decent foundations prevent soil erosion under the wall due to running water from rain or snowmelt, which might cause subsidence.
This simple philosophy ensures our new builds stay built.
